Club Stuff
• Boat - make sure you're comfortable, and it has footrests that fit you.
• Airbags and drain-bung - MAKE SURE YOUR BOAT HAS AT LEAST ONE AIR-BAG!
• Bouyancy aid
• Paddle - check before you paddle that you have the correct orientation (left/right-handed)
• Helmet
• Spray deck - make sure it fits the cockpit of the boat you are planning to paddle
• Spray top (or dry cag)
Try and make sure that you attend the club session before the trip so that you can make sure any club kit you need to borrow is being taken for you. The committee will usually sort this out. If you cannot make that session, call someone who will be going (committee members if possible) and make sure someone else can sort this for you.
Stuff to bring yourself
• Clothes and shoes to get wet! (or borrow a wetsuit), sandals are good but NOT flip-flops
• Sleeping Bag - bring your warmest sleeping bag
• Roll-mat/thermarest
• Waterproof Coat
• Warm clothes - hat, gloves, scarf, thermal underwear...
• Sturdy shoes - walking boots are good
• Towel - to change under
• Food and drink - The bus usually stops at a supermarket on the way. Not sure what to get? Ask people who've done it before.
Is it a camping trip?
• Another set of clothes to get wet. The first set probably won't dry out in a tent.
• A space in a tent. Ask around, find people to share with. The club owns 3 tents so if you can't find one amongst members, please ask to borrow a club tent.
• Camping stove, pans, plate and cutlery.
• Torch
Don't go crazy and bring everything you own cos there's not a lot of room in the bus!
You DO NOT need to buy all this stuff. If you haven't got everything, just ASK. You'll always be able to borrow stuff from other members of the club and from the club shed
