In this day in age it is a sad fact that the a large part of running a club is a publicity excercise. This is why it is important for the club to have branding! This creates an identity for the club that people can recognise.
Firstly it is important to use the club logo wheever you publish somthing like fliers for freshers fair, spark articles, posters for the union ect

The font that is predominantly used in the these graphics is impact it would be good to also use this for tittles and things.
Here you can find the university logos, it tends to keep the university happy if you use these, plus the crest is good for club tops ect
